Application #17

Automating Report Delivery

Application 17: You have been having some operation problems during weekends at one of your sites and you would like to periodically review throughout the weekend what is occurring.

Solution: Using the Infinity Report Scheduling feature, you can have the Infinity system automatically run the site controller print monitor report every four hours during weekends. The print monitor report shows site activity recorded by the site controller monitor feature. You can then use the Infinity Report Management feature to automatically Email you the report each time it runs.

Step-by-Step:

Establish An Alert Group for You

•  Since you want to email the print monitor report to just yourself, you will need to set up a special Alert Group just for you.

•  On the Infinity Site Status page, click Infinity Configuration .

•  On the Infinity Configuration Menu page, select the desired site in the Site: drop down box and click the Load button.

•  In the Common Configuration section, click Alert Groups .

•  On the bottom of the screen, click the Add button.

•  In the Alert Group box, type a name for your alert group (e.g. your name).

•  In the Email Addresses box, you can type your Email address and then click the Save button.

Set Up the Infinity System to Email the Report to You

•  On the Infinity Site Status page, click Infinity Configuration .

•  On the Infinity Configuration Menu page, select the desired site in the Site: drop down box and click the Load button.

•  Click Report Management under the iSite Configuration section. (If it was a tank gauge report, you would click Report Management under the iTank Configuration section.)

•  Click the Add button at the bottom of the screen.

•  In the Report Name box, type a name for the report (e.g. GB Print Monitor). In the Report Code box, type the command used in the site controller (e.g. P MO).

•  In the Alert Group box, type the name of the new alert group you set up (e.g. your name).

•  You can leave the Execute Command box empty.

•  If you want to be notified when the report does not run, you can complete the Indicate Late in Minutes and the Late Alert Group entries. Enter the amount of time in minutes that are allowed to pass since the report was last run before the system notifies the alert group, listed in the Late Alert Group box, that the report is late. For example, since you are having it run every four hours, you may wish to enter 250 minutes (4 hours x 60 minutes + 10 minute grace period). You can leave the Scan with Event Group box empty.

•  Select your system type from the System Type drop down box and click the Save button.

Schedule the Infinity System to Run Your Report

•  Click the Return to Infinity Configuration Menu link and then click the Report Schedules link in the Common Configuration section.

•  Click the Add button on the bottom of the screen.

•  Select your system type from the System Type drop down box.

•  Select your desired report from the Report drop down box (e.g. the GB Print Monitor report you just set up).

•  Since you want to run the report every 4 hours just on weekends, complete the time entries as follows. When you are finished with the time entries, click the Save button.

•  Minutes: 00

•  Hours: 00, 04, 08, 12, 16, 20
