Marketing Your Fuel Services

Application 3: You are competing with other petroleum marketing companies for the business of area fleets and you want to differentiate your services from competing on price alone.

Solution: The Infinity Services enable you to offer your customers added-value. The equipment event notification feature allows you to instantly know when you have equipment problems so you can maximize the equipment uptime at your sites. You can provide unparalleled customer service by knowing immediately when customer cards do not work, they forget their PINs, or their fuel limits are set too low. Before your customers have to come to you, you can call and ask if you can help them! With the camera option, you can offer them video proof if their employees are filling their own vehicles. The first time a new customer fuels at your site, copy the image of the vehicle associated with the transaction and Email it to your customer emphasizing the capabilities and security that you can offer them.

Finding Transactions

Application 4: You have a customer who is questioning a transaction on a specific card that occurred about 30 days ago.

Solution: You can use the Infinity system report archives to look up a copy of the Site Controller logfile from the day of the transaction. Your browser's find feature can be used to search the logfile text for the card number in question. You can copy the transaction into an Email to your customer and if you have the camera option, you can even attach an image of the vehicle at the island at the time of the transaction.

Capturing, Diagnosing, & Correcting Equipment Problems

Application 5: You have a site that just reported a PLLD Shutdown on line 4 Diesel. Your site is down and you cannot get a technician to the site for at least three hours. What can you do?

Solution: You can use the Infinity Services to communicate directly with the tank gauge at the site. You can run the VR Pressure Line Leak Diagnostic Report to verify that the no one has the diesel pump handle on (The PLLD test needs to have all diesel pumps turned off.). If you have the optional camera server, you can click on the Current Image button to see who is on site. You can run the site controller DISABLE PUMP command using the Infinity Run Command feature to make sure no one turns a pump on during the test. You can then run the VR Start Pressure Line Leak Test Line 4 (3.0 GPH in V18+). This report will restart the test and if it passes the pumps will restart. You can verify the status by running the VR Pressure Line Leak Diagnostic Report again. You will want to run the report a couple of times to verify the end of the test. To make sure the alarm has cleared, run the VR Active Alarm report. When you are finished you can re-enable the pumps through the Infinity run command feature.

Application 6: You are having problems with your card reader #1 intermittently going down and you want to confirm the number of instances so you can provide the information to technical support to help resolve the problem.

Solution: You can employ the Infinity Services Hold file feature to collect all Card Reader Terminal #1 went down messages in a 12-hour period and send the messages to you and technical support in a single summary Email. Or, you can use the Infinity Event Reporting feature to search through the events history database for all occurrences in a desired time period, and then copy the report into an Email.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 7: You fixed the problem with card reader #1 and you want to verify it is definitely fixed and does not go down again.

Solution: You can set up the Infinity Event Notification feature to notify you immediately by Email or pager/phone messaging if card reader #1 goes down.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 8: You need to reboot your site controller and you want to make sure there are not any customers at the site so you do not terminate someone's transaction.

Solution: You can use the Infinity camera option to view the current activity at your site at any time from anywhere.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 9: Pump #8 is down at one of your sites and the service technician indicates he cannot get the service part for two weeks. You want to make sure that pump #8 is not forgotten and left out of service.

Solution: You can set up the Infinity event notification feature to temporarily suspend the disabled notification for that particular pump for the two-week period. At the end of the two-week period, if the pump is not placed back in service, you will be notified.

Identifying Theft and Damage

Application 10: One of your fleet customers calls you looking for assistance. He thinks one of his employees is fueling his private vehicle, but the fleet supervisor needs proof before confronting the employee.

Solution: You can use the Infinity system report archives to look up copies of the site controller log files from days the employee may have fueled. Your browser's find feature can be used to find transactions with the employee's card number. When you find a transaction, you can click on it to see the camera images that were captured at the completion of the transaction. You can copy the images and include them in an Email to the fleet supervisor so he can determine which vehicle was being fueled. If it is the employee's vehicle, he has his proof!

Application 11: You have received a report about a stolen card. You are asked to investigate when it was last used and to provide any other details about the transaction.

Solution: You can use the Infinity system report archives to look up copies of the site controller log files from days when the card may have been used. Your browser's find feature can be used to find any transactions with the card number in question. If you have the camera option, you can also provide an image of the vehicle at the island at the completion of the transaction.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 12: You have been informed that there was a spill at one of your sites some time early this morning, and no one bothered to use the on-site clean-up materials. You would like to determine who was at fault.

Solution: You can use the Infinity system to look at the current site controller log file. You can select transactions at various intervals through the morning, and by clicking on the transaction, look at the images which were captured at the completion of the transaction. Once you find images with the spill, you can work backward until you pinpoint when the spill first appears. Utilizing the images and analyzing the transactions for which pump was used, you can narrow down the guilty party!

Automating Inventory Deliveries & Record-Keeping

Application 13: You frequently run out of fuel, especially when you are on vacation or preoccupied with other projects.

Solution: You can setup the Infinity event notification feature to automatically notify you and/or your co-workers by Email or pager/phone messaging when the tank gauge indicates the tank has reached the reorder level. Or better yet, also include the Email address of your fuel carrier so they are notified directly! A quick glance at your Infinity home page can tell you if you are about to run out of fuel at any of your sites in the next 36 hours based on your previous sales histories at the sites.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 14: Your tank records are being audited by your local environmental agency and you need to show the auditor your monthly tank and line leak test reports.

Solution: You can take advantage of Infinity's report scheduling feature to automatically run and store your tank gauge tank and line leak test reports (e.g. CLSD Test Results, In Tank Leak Test History, Pressure Line Leak Test History). The reports are stored in the Infinity Report Archives, easily accessible by site at any time from anywhere you have Internet access.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 15: You want to verify the amount of fuel the common carrier drops in your tanks and when.

Solution: You can use the Gasboy site controller delivery card feature and require the fuel truck driver to slide the card at the card reader to record the product and gallons being delivered. When the card is slid through the reader, the card reader will prompt for the tank number and gallons. The site controller will create a fuel transaction indicating it is a delivery and it will include the tank number, gallons, and the date and time. You can have the Infinity System look for delivery transactions, and Email the transactions to your desired recipients. You can also have the Infinity System automatically run and Email the tank gauge delivery report to your desired recipients so they can compare that to what the driver indicated they delivered.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Automating Report Delivery

Application 16: You have an end of the day report that you would like to get Emailed to the audit team each day.

Solution: You can take advantage of the Gasboy site controller's CRON feature to have your report run automatically at the end of every day and then utilize the Infinity's report management feature to automatically Email the report to just your audit team members. Your report will also be stored in the Infinity report archives for reference at any time.

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 17: You have been having some operation problems during weekends at one of your sites and you would like to periodically review throughout the weekend what is occurring.

Solution: Using the Infinity Report Scheduling feature, you can have the Infinity system automatically run the site controller print monitor report every four hours during weekends. The print monitor report shows site activity recorded by the site controller monitor feature. You can then use the Infinity Report Management feature to automatically Email you the report each time it runs.

Verifying Contractor Work at the Site

Application 18: It is the winter season. You have a landscaper/employee who is responsible for cutting the grass and picking up trash weekly. He says he is there three times a week, but you are not sure because the grass is dormant and the trashcans are full. You would like to have a more verifiable procedure to make sure you are receiving your money's worth.

Solution: When the landscaper/employee comes out to cut the grass, pick up trash, and blow the lot you can require them to slide a special card with account number 66666666 . The Infinity System has been set up to look for a 66666666 event, and will Email anyone listed in the Contractor alert group when the landscaper is on-site and slides the card. This event also executes a special command file that was loaded on your site controller as part of the Infinity installation. The command file prints a receipt to card reader #1 that the landscaping personnel can take back to their office for billing. The receipt includes the site number, date, time, and the message, Thank you for cleaning our site. Please call our office if you have any problems. ( NOTE: The system is also pre-setup for monitoring other contractor services: security regular visits [see below], security alarm visits, pressure washing, pump washing, adding winter additives, and company personnel visits.)

See Step-By-Step Solution

Application 19: You want to confirm via Email when your security company visits your site each day and at what time. While the security company is there, you would like them to check that each of your receipt printers is working correctly. You would like them to fill out a checklist and fax it back to you.

Solution: When the security company visits the site they can be required to slide a special card with account number 888888888 . The Infinity System has been set up to look for an 888888888 event, and will Email anyone listed in the Contractor alert group with the date and time so they know when the security personnel were on-site. This event also executes a special command file that was loaded on your site controller as part of the Infinity installation. The command file prints a receipt to up to three card readers so that the receipt printers can be checked that they are working. The command will also print a checklist to a printer attached to the Infinity PC (if they have a printer). The security personnel can be required to complete the checklist and fax it back to you when they return to their office.
