Application #5

Capturing, Diagnosing, & Correcting Equipment Problems

Application 5: You have a site that just reported a PLLD Shutdown on line 4 Diesel. Your site is down and you cannot get a technician to the site for at least three hours. What can you do?

Solution: You can use the Infinity Services to communicate directly with the tank gauge at the site. You can run the VR Pressure Line Leak Diagnostic Report to verify that the no one has the diesel pump handle on (The PLLD test needs to have all diesel pumps turned off.). If you have the optional camera server, you can click on the Current Image button to see who is on site. You can run the site controller DISABLE PUMP command using the Infinity Run Command feature to make sure no one turns a pump on during the test. You can then run the VR Start Pressure Line Leak Test Line 4 (3.0 GPH in V18+). This report will restart the test and if it passes the pumps will restart. You can verify the status by running the VR Pressure Line Leak Diagnostic Report again. You will want to run the report a couple of times to verify the end of the test. To make sure the alarm has cleared, run the VR Active Alarm report. When you are finished you can re-enable the pumps through the Infinity run command feature.

Step-by-Step:

•  On your Infinity Site Status page, click on the site name or site license number of the desired site.

•  Click Yes if the Security Alert window appears.

•  The Enter Network Password window will appear. I n the User Name box, type the site license number, and in the Password box, type your password and click ok . The Infinity Main Menu for that site will appear.

•  In the iTank section, select the VR Pressure Line Leak Diagnostic Report from the Run Report drop down box. Click the Run Report button and the output will display on the screen.

•  Using the report, verify that the no one has the diesel pump handle on (The PLLD test needs to have all diesel pumps turned off.). If you have the optional camera server, you can click on the Current Image button to see who is on site.

•  Click Return to Infinity Menu to return to the Infinity Main Menu.

•  In the iSite Run Command box, you can use the site controller commands to disable the diesel pumps if wish to prevent someone from turning them on during the test. Since you cannot do interactive commands with the Run Command feature, you need to use the site controller short-cut command feature where multiple command lines are performed in one string. For example, di pu;C 1,3 will disable pumps 1 and 3 without going through the prompts. Click the Run Command button to run the command.

•  Select the VR Start Pressure Line Leak Test Line 4 (3.0 GPH in V18+) report from the iTank Run Report drop down box. Click the Run Report button. This will restart the test and if it passes, the pumps will restart.

•  Click Return to Infinity Menu to return to the Infinity Main Menu.

•  Verify the status by selecting the VR Pressure Line Leak Diagnostic Report again from the iTank Run Report drop down box and click the Run Report button . You will want to run it a couple of times to verify the end of the test.

•  Click Return to Infinity Menu to return to the Infinity Main Menu.

•  To make sure the alarm has cleared, select the VR Active Alarm Report from the iTank Run Report drop down box and click the Run Report button .

•  Don't forget to re-enable the pumps you disabled! For example, type e pu;C 1,3 to re-enable pumps 1 and 3. Click the Run Command button to run the command.
